Lucas in Grade 1 was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Lucas wanted to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and asked his school to help out.  Lucas set a goal to raise $2,500 for the Walk for the Cure. Three classes helped promote a hat and gum day and with the enthusiasm of the student body, Lucas raised $660.00 at school. His Grade 1 class helped count and roll all the coins without a calculator. Grade 6 students helped by promoting the event and getting people involved with reminders over the announcements.

On May 26, Lucas and his Skywalker team raised well over $1,500 towards the Walk for Cure campaign! We are proud of Lucas and his schoolmates …. another example of a Saginaw Star that shines brightly!

In June Sydney and Jacob were compelled to help out people who were less fortunate. Together this brother and sister team asked the Saginaw community to participate in a gently used clothing drive. Sydney and Jacob’s parents helped by picking up donated clothing bins and with the help of the community collected over 5 van loads of clothing that helped many shelters and community organizations looking to help families in need! Saginaw Stars shine brightly!

Stay tuned as we prepare for the upcoming Terry Fox Run! Thanks you Saginaw !
