The WRDSB is very pleased to announce the appointments of our new Superintendents of Student Achievement and Well-Being effective July 1, 2021. These candidates bring strong equity leadership capacity grounded in social justice, anti-racism and anti-oppression, an ability to serve and support staff and school communities through productive working relationships, and a proven track record of improving outcomes for students. We are excited about the skills, expertise and lived experiences that the new Superintendents will bring to the WRDSB.

Crissa Hill

Superintendent of Student Achievement and Well-Being

Crissa Hill is the Peel District School Board’s current Coordinating Principal of Indigenous Education and Equity where she has the privilege of leading a committed team of educators in providing instructional guidance and job-embedded professional development related to issues of sovereignty, equity, and inclusion to a system of over 10,000 staff who support 157,000 students in 257 schools. Prior to this role, Crissa enjoyed a long career with the Peel Board where she started as a teacher and where she has been in Administration since 2010. In addition to her responsibilities as the Coordinating Principal, she also seeks to build district and school staff capacity across the province as an Instructor for the Intermediate and Senior First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Additional Basic Qualification for OISE/University of Toronto and as a Principal’s Qualification Program Instructor for York University.

She has a passion for issues related to equity, sovereignty, and inclusion and a long-standing interest in the ways in which we can use research-informed assessment and evaluation practices to find pathways to success for all students. Crissa believes deeply that leadership matters and focuses on ways to cultivate passion for leadership in both staff and students. She is looking forward to the opportunity to work with staff and students in the WRDSB in pursuit of student success.

Pam Kaur

Superintendent of Student Achievement and Well-Being

Pam started her teaching career as a primary teacher after graduating from teacher’s college in India in 1986. She went on to teach junior and senior English before immigrating to Canada in 1991. Pam served as a teacher, vice-principal and principal in Toronto District School Board for 16 years, when she relocated to Waterloo Region and joined Waterloo Region District School Board in 2009. She has served as a proud principal at Alpine, AR Kaufman and Abraham Erb Public Schools.

Pam is passionate about Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion, student achievement and well-being. She recognizes her own intersectionality and privilege as an English-speaking, educated middle-class woman and has experienced struggles typical of the lives of racialized people. Pam believes that justice matters, and that it matters for the success for our Black, Indigenous, racialized and 2SLGBTQ+ students, and is committed to serving the needs of all students.

An advocate of public education and tirelessly committed to social and racial justice, and fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi and oral Urdu, Pam is looking forward to serving the community in this new capacity.

Della Lataille-Herdsman

Superintendent of Student Achievement and Well-Being

Della has more than 24 years of experience in education including serving in the capacity of teacher in Toronto and Peel DSBs, Early Literacy Resource Teacher supporting numerous schools with PDSB, and Vice Principal and Principal of K-5 and K-8 schools with special education programs.

Having worked in various school settings, Della understands that building strong and trusting relationships with all stakeholders is vital. Throughout her career, Della has been a strong advocate for students, student centered teaching and has created school culture that identifies and dismantles oppression and racism in school curriculum, programs, policies and practices.

Della looks forward to continuing her commitment to student achievement and student and staff well-being as Superintendent, Student Achievement & Well-being with WRDSB.
